Petron displayed the type of game that made it the most dominant team in the league, blasting F2 Logistics in straight sets for the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference championship Thursday night.

Denied of a tournament sweep, Petron attacked from all corners to post a 25-22, 26-24, 25-23 triumph for its fifth conference title in the league.

The entire Petron bench and its followers at Filoil Flying V Centre erupted in celebration as an F2 serve went long at match point and Petron wrapped up a second title this season.

“The team really worked very hard in practices and they showed how much they want to win,” said Petron coach Shaq delos Santos. “We almost swept the conference but we know eventually teams will try to stop us.”FEATURED STORIES

Overall, Petron just lost one match—Game 2 of the finals—all tournament before claiming its third AFC title.

Meanwhile, University of the Philippines bested University of Santo Tomas, 25-21, 16-25, 25-23, 25-19, earlier to capture the inaugural Collegiate Grand Slam.

Tots Carlos, Nicole Magsarile and Maristela Layug powered the Lady Maroons, who fittingly raised the Dominic Sytin trophy named after their late benefactor, who was slain early this month.

Carlos scored 17 points, while Magsarile and Layug had 11 and 10, respectively for UP, which recovered from a lethargic second set to bag the title.
