AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare has insisted that Mike Maignan will not leave the club this summer despite an approach from Chelsea.<\/p>\n

Chelsea had explored a deal for Maignan before the Club World Cup as a potential upgrade on their current goalkeepeing options.<\/p>\n

The Milan captain, who has one year left on his deal, was keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, but both sides failed to reach an agreement prior to the tournament.<\/p>\n

Enzo Maresca\u2019s side were only willing to pay around \u00a315million for the French international, while Milan were demanding a fee of at least \u00a320m.<\/p>\n

While Chelsea could seek to resurrect a deal later in the window, their chances of success would appear slim after Tare confirmed the club had no intention of letting the 29-year-old leave this summer.<\/p>\n

\u2018Maignan is not leaving, he will be at Milan again next season,\u2019 Tare told reporters on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u2018There was interest from a Premier League club but in the end no agreement was found.\u2019<\/p>\n

Tare continued: \u2018Also knowing that Maignan is an important point of reference not only on the pitch, but also off the pitch, we decided to focus on him for next season and to move forward together. <\/p>\n

\u2018Football is unpredictable, but for us he remains a point of reference in this team.\u2019<\/p>\n

Despite being dropped midway through last season, Robert Sanchez has regained the first-choice spot between the sticks in Maresca\u2019s side and has started both of Chelsea\u2019s games so far in the Club World Cup.<\/p>\n

The Spaniard will once again face competition from Filip Jorgensen next season, while youngster Mike Penders could also feature after his loan at Genk last season.<\/p>\n

Djordje Petrovic enjoyed a fruitful loan spell last season, impressing for French side Strasbourg in Ligue 1, but the Serbian is now set to leave Chelsea this summer after he was left out of Chelsea\u2019s squad for the Club World Cup.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Chelsea are seeking wide attacking reinforcements after they opted to not make Jadon Sancho\u2019s loan deal permanent. <\/p>\n

The Blues failed with two bids for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens prior to the Club World Cup, but remain confident of agreeing a fee for the Englishman.<\/p>\n
